A Dear Friend

Our family of three meets on the third floor of a business building to learn the Mongolian language three hours a day, five days a week, along with another co-teacher and our language teachers. Many weeks ago, one of Kevin's first assignments after learning some introductory phrases, was to go downstairs to the door guards and introduce himself and find out one of their names. "Chuck" was Kevin's acquaintance that day. Now, we say "Sain Bain Oo" (How are you?) to whoever is sitting at the guard desk when we enter in the mornings. We might say "Dara Oltsie" (see you later) as we leave...or some other good bye phrase.

Today, we had to go over to the office to meet others for an out of town learning experience (more on that in a later post). Chuck was there. We spoke some choppy Mongolian with him, and he even spoke slowly and tried to communicate with us with words we might know. What a dear friendship that is developing! Don't his eyes just sparkle with kindness?!

He certainly looks like a friendly fellow! Glad you're meeting at least some friendly faces, hopefully some good friends. :)
