This post is a continuation of my last post. I had more pictures to share from our visit to Mother Rock on Saturday. Here is a view of the men's line of waiting "pray-ers" at Mother Rock. The table in front of the line is full of offerings to Mother Rock to appease the spirits. The offerings include a large silver bowl of packaged crackers and cookies, as well as bottles of vodka, water, and milk.
Below, a lady lights a stick of incense as an offering during her prayer. This is happening about 10 feet from Mother Rock. And, here, an older gentleman is tidying up the vodka bottle table. People would pour a bit of vodka into the bottle's lid and then toss it against this wall or up into the air. This wall is part of what encloses the area around Mother Rock, with no roof...it's all open to the sky. We have been told that the enclosure used to have a roof and the place began to stink with the vodka and sour milk which is thrown into the air and against the walls.
