Speaking English With Mongolian Pre-Teens

One of our students (the young Mongolian woman on the left--she teaches English about an hour away from Ulaanbaatar) texted us this morning to ask if she could bring several of her students over to speak English with us. We were so excited to have them over. So, they arrived at 2:00 and we had a time of introductions, asking questions to one another, had an activity of showing them how to play "London Bridge is Falling Down" since they had learned that English song in class, and also "role played" communication (pretending one line of us was a restaurant owner, and one was a customer...and had conversation that fit that scenario). In this picture, Kevin is showing them where we used to live and places in the world he has visited (they had asked that question). They are all standing on our couch to see the map above our couch. They are all 11 and 12 years, and they were sweet as could be. They also sang two popular songs for us in English, and did so with vigor.

Below are a couple close-up pictures of the students who visited today.

I wish I could see you in action!

Role playing is hard (for me). But it sounds like you're having a great time with it!
