Business in Mongolia

Tonight we have another friend coming over for conversation. We hope to direct it to important topics. She has opened up a new restaurant recently, and we went to visit. She serves all the regular Mongolian foods and also created a plate of layered items which she asked us to "name". The items were: cooked, grated carrots and potatoes, pieces of cooked chicken, topped with a layer of mayonnaise, and grated boiled egg. We decided it looked like a mountain with snow on top, and sprinkled with yellow flowers, so we named it "White Mountain", Tsaigon Olth.

Here she is, proudly cooking in her "guanz" kitchen. (A guanz is a very small 'fast food' traditional Mongolian hut/restaurant. In America, it would be comparable to a small town cafe with 5-10 tables).

The business next door to the guanz is a little store which sells all kinds of luxuries (candy, toilet paper, soap), and necessities (toilet paper, soap, onions, chicken broth cubes). We have met this store owner and she has come over with our friend who owns the guanz. We hope to continue to have a good impact on both of their lives. Isn't this an adorable store? Both of these ladies are trying to make a living with their new businesses. We hope they succeed!
