I'm sure by now we have eaten some non-traditional meat and we didn't know it. However, last night we were knowingly eating camel chili (that's not a new recipe...just a new kind of meat!), and it was good! Camel is very much like beef in its flavor.
Our friends from Minnesota...not Mongolians...were the ones to share this delicious soup with us! Good for them for branching out. I've still been sticking with chicken and beef. I really miss salmon and shrimp...two seafood which we ate at home at least once a month.
I'm glad we like many different kinds of food. There's so much more here than we first thought would be here. I guess the food imports have blossomed in the last couple years, so the reports we heard about lack of food choices was actually true at one point not so long ago. We actually enjoy many kinds of vegetables and might get a pineapple this week. A friend of mine found one for 2200 Tugricks here, which ends up being less than $1.50! However, most fruits and vegetables tend to be higher than in the States.
Isn't it interesting that so much in our lives revolves around food--the stuff we put in our mouths? Psalm 34:8 says, "O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!" I want to make sure that what I put in my heart is also tasty and satisfying! May you cook up a good time with Him today!

Crazy!!! I wonder if you will look at beef differently now! I suppose when you think about it, it is just as weird that we eat beef. Are you carrying lots of water from matt and Jessica's house? Do you buy a lot of bottled water?
Tomato sauce and beans can do a lot for some browned meat....
Thanks for sharing Psalm 34:8.
We can cook up some special time with Him as we lift each other up!!
Love,
Mom
Alicia: We actually boil our water for drinking. We might get a filter, too, but at this time, boiling seems to be fine. When we were at Matt & Jess's for the chili, though, we brought home four big bottles of water from their filter so that we wouldn't have to mess with boiling the first couple days of this week! Hooray!
