Back Pulver

Okay, so my mom asked, "What's a 6 pack of baking powder?"  Here's some photos.  The name for baking powder is "back pulver"...I think it's German.

Front view of the 6-pack of baking powder envelopes

Six little envelopes which hold 3 1/2 tsp. each, packaged together in cellophane.

Enough baking powder for 6 recipes of pancakes.
My husband just said, "You're blogging about THAT?"  Yes, I'm crazy.

Tell "your husband" that I loved seeing the 6 pack of baking powder!! :) Now I know!
.... And I bet he uses it quite often since he's a pancake maker!

I think it is interesting hearing how you navigate another countries food options. Especially if you are needing 'comfort' food and need to diverge from the way you usually put together a meal. I bet you would do great on that show on Food Network where you get a basket if unusual food and have to make something tastey out of it. I like there posts :)I I also think it inspires those who are staunch recipe followers to explore a little and get creative.

Pam - I can relate to excitement about baking powder. When we travel to Haiti, Belle Romeus cherishes the gift of YEAST, which they have a very hard time finding. Kevin has perhaps told you about the 'flat bread' bought and served in Haiti. Needless to say it is not the same as the bread we know in the US. We are big bread fans, and I enjoy occasionally making bread/buns for small group (jacksons, beighleys, plantans, niedtfeldts, berwick, duits). I REALLY have fun making 'monkey bread' - about once/year - for those 4-year old AWANA kids! Continuing to pray and lift you up. We love hearing about your experiences. In the matchless name of the SON, ---Dave/Linda Schmitter
