I have been a bit concerned about how I'm going to exercise in Ulaanbaatar (the city in Mongolia where we will live) during the first months that we will be there. Of course, I plan to be walking more there since we won't have a car...and running to catch buses, but what about days that I don't get as much exercise? Will I have opportunity to work up a sweat?
My sister-in-law loaned me some exercise DVD's and tapes and I tried out my first one yesterday. Even though I've been running regularly, I feel some "stretch and tightness" in my calves this morning after doing the aerobics workout of "Power 90" yesterday. I also went brisk walking for a little over 20 minutes at the mall yesterday, so that felt good. No stopping for shopping 'til the walking was over. (Say that three times fast!)
I'd love to hear how others who are stuck inside are getting their exercise during this cold winter.

Not good when I see that you posted this at 3 a.m. Restless night? Again? I joined you at 4 a.m., thinking about Luther, Zwingli, and Calvin and the prep I need to complete to lead our group discussion on Friday.
But as for exercising my bodily muscles instead of my mind muscles, I do love my treadmill. I got busy on it the last three days of the year, but I wound up with shin splints and am just feeling completely healed today. I also try to get out with the kids for a short walk or bike ride every time the temp is over 45, which is pretty frequently in Colorado. Annie and I got our blood moving yesterday afternoon, motivated by the forecast that cold was coming. It's snowing today!
I am pretty sure I have made myself clear before right now, but...
WE ARE GOING TO MISS, MISS YOU ALL!
I have every intention of plugging Cade into your blog and keeping him informed with the good works you all are up to...in MONGOLIA.
I make a concerted effort to do housework powerfully instead of lazily to work up a little bit of a sweat. Lugging laundry quickly up and down stairs, vacuuming with my gut tight, taking four trips upstairs to deliver clean laundry to the kids' rooms instead of piling it into one trip etc.
If you're in an apartment building with stairs you can do laps on the stairs (though your neighbors may think you're off your nut!).
I'm bookmarking your page now, so it will come up daily!
Ooooh---Tara! Daily! I'd better get writing!
